About us

GIS Direct Limited was founded in 2006 by Peter Jones.
A young entrepreneur who saw a need for a company to offer reliable GIS data, and CAD drafting for use in the electricity utility industry.
Peter started out as an overhead line surveyor working for Line Design Solutions.
Over the years he has built up experience in the use of CAD & GIS. He has participated in many varied projects including aerial lidar mapping for Optimal Software, DGPS asset location for Scottish Power, and Line route investigation & drafting for Central Networks.
He was also involved with one of the largest wind farms in Europe at Cefn Croes.

Over the years he has surveyed hundreds of kilometers of overhead electricity line for the UK regional electricity companies including Scottish power, United Utilities, and Seeboard.

He now runs GIS Direct an independent Technical Consultancy.

Using the skills and contacts he has developed over the years, his aim is to bring affordable CAD & GIS to companies in need of accurate, reliable records of existing and proposed assets.
